We are thrilled to announce that Concordia Language Villages has received a STARTALK grant to offer a fully-funded STARTALK Chinese High School Credit program for summer 2025!
This exciting opportunity allows high school students to immerse themselves in the Chinese language and culture while earning one full year of high school credit.
Program Overview
The STARTALK Chinese program is an intensive four-week overnight language learning experience at our summer camp site in Bemidji, Minnesota. Students will engage with a themed curriculum specifically designed for three proficiency levels: Novice (“My Life at Sēn Lín Hú”), Intermediate (“Culture & Community”) and Advanced-Low (“A Year Abroad”). With a cohort of only 24 students, this program promises personalized attention and an enriching learning environment.
Program Dates
- Online Pre-Camp Orientation: May 2025
- Four-Week Summer Camp: Monday, July 14 – Saturday, August 9, 2025
Eligibility
- Students entering grades 9 through 12 in the fall of 2025 are eligible to apply.
- Preference will be given to those with demonstrated financial need and prior experience with the Chinese language.
Cost
- There is no cost to participate and partial travel stipends will be available based on demonstrated financial need.
Application Process
- Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with a priority deadline of December 1, 2024.
