Every Kid Outdoors: Free National Parks for 4th Graders

The Every Kid Outdoors program offers fourth-grade students and their families free access to hundreds of national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and more. It’s a great way to turn history, science, art, and fitness into real-world adventures right in our own backyard.

What does the pass cover? Free entry for a year (Sept 1–Aug 31) to national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, marine sites, Corps lands, and for the student, plus all children under 16 and all adults in up to one passenger vehicle.

What’s excluded? Camping, parking, boat tours, special programs, and privately managed fees aren’t included.

How to get a pass: Students* complete a short online activity, download and print a unique paper voucher, and then exchange it at a federal recreation site for a durable pass. Digital versions aren’t accepted.

The 2024-2025 school year pass will expire on August 31, 2025 so get outside and adventure today!

* If your child is entering 4th grade for the 2025-2026 school year, free passes will be available starting September 1.
