Visitor and Parent Conduct Policy

Global Village Academy North (GVA North) is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. We value respect, understanding, and personal responsibility as foundational principles. Parents, guardians, and all visitors play a vital role in maintaining a positive school climate. As partners in student success, visitors are expected to uphold the conduct standards outlined below.

Visitors to the School

GVA North welcomes community involvement and believes that positive engagement benefits both the school and the wider community. To ensure safety and prevent unauthorized access, the following procedures apply:

  • All visitors during regular school hours must enter through the main/front entrance.
  • Visitors must report to the main school office, present proper identification, and describe the purpose of their visit.
  • All visitors are entered into the Raptor Visitor Management System.
  • Visitors must receive and wear a visitor badge for the duration of their time on campus.
  • Visitors must sign out upon leaving and notify the main office staff that they are leaving.

Visitors are encouraged, but not required, to call ahead. Being issued a visitor badge provides the “reasonable notice” required under this policy.

In accordance with Colorado law, the principal or designee may require any individual to leave school property if their presence creates or is likely to create a disruption or safety concern. If a future visit is permitted, the principal will communicate the earliest return date and any behavioral expectations.

Parent/Guardian Visitors

Parents and guardians are welcome partners in our school community. To protect instructional time and ensure safety:

  • Parents must observe all school rules when visiting or volunteering, including checking in via Raptor and wearing a visitor badge.
  • Meetings with teachers during school hours, or anytime students are present, must be scheduled in advance.
  • Parents may not approach or confront other students about conflicts. Concerns must be communicated to the teacher and, if necessary, the grade-level administrator.
  • Classroom, instructional, or behavior concerns should be discussed directly with staff members during a scheduled meeting.
  • All communication should remain respectful. Yelling, threats, profanity, aggressive behavior, and derogatory comments are prohibited.
  • Parents should avoid spreading rumors or discussing conflicts with others; concerns should be resolved directly with staff or administration.
  • Parents should follow the Grievance Process, addressing concerns first with the staff member and escalating in writing if any concerns are unresolved.
  • If a parent spreads damaging or inaccurate information, administration or the Board may request mediation. Consequences may include ending a meeting, verbal warnings, asking the parent to leave campus, issuing a Trespass Notice, or contacting law enforcement.

Volunteer and Chaperone Requirements

All parents, guardians, or adults serving as volunteers or chaperones during school hours or school-sponsored events must complete a CBI background check with a $7 processing fee. Forms and payment links are available on the school website or by email sent by the main office staff. Background checks must be approved before participation. Volunteers and chaperones must also check in through Raptor and wear a visitor badge during school activities.

Alignment with Student and Parent Handbook

These procedures align with the GVA North Student & Parent Handbook and reinforce our commitments to safety, respectful conduct, and accountability. The use of the Raptor system, visitor badges, and CBI background checks helps maintain a secure and orderly environment for all students, staff, and families.
