New Staff Member Spotlight

My name is Maria Isabel Quintana also known as Chabela at home with all my loved ones while growing up in Mexico City, (where I was born) and still I am called Chabela when I go visit my relatives throughout Colorado. Chabela is simply a nickname for girls named Maria Isabel.

As a little girl, I remember playing dolls with my girl friends and pretending we spoke English. We would clarify what we were about to say to each other in Spanish first, then we would make up some language sounds and called it English. It was so much fun acting out a second language that I would learn at the age of thirteen. As a high school student, I challenged myself to pick up a third language to learn, French. This was the beginning of my passion for foreign languages. I have studied Italian and Portuguese also. Becoming a Spanish teacher is my fortune, my calling and my passion. I have experienced much joy from teaching my native language to students of all nationalities.

I am excited to be part of Global Village Academy Northglenn where I will continue to share my special gift of language. I am passionate about my work and will do my best to immerse my students in the Spanish language and provide a lot of opportunities for my students to thrive as we grow through language learning together.
