Being a teenager can be hard. The teen years are a time of growth and increasing independence, but they’re also a time of social, emotional, and academic pressures, which in turn increase teens’ risk of depression, anxiety, and suicide. There is no single profile for a youth at risk. It could be any child. It could be your child.
Being a parent can be hard too. We play a key role in protecting our teens, but we don’t have all the answers. Working together, a group of community parents and adolescent mental health experts from Children’s Hospital Colorado put together tips that parents can use to lower the risks of depression and anxiety and keep kids safe.
