In fact, Saturday, August 28th was their very first gathering of the year! Families came together to make connections and new friends.
The committee set up several activities - calming glitter bottles, painting rocks, volcano science experiments, games and races, chalk drawing, etc., for families to enjoy. They also had a GVA-N healthy community banner, snacks, and Q & A table.
Our outstanding middle school student ambassadors greeted families and shared their experiences at GVA. Parents were definitely interested in their journey; quite impressed by their confident demeanor and how they carried themselves talking about GVA in such articulate manners. They discussed why they stayed at GVA for middle school, which high school they might attend, as well as their career path using the language they learned. They were also extremely helpful - from the set-up (picking up trash in the playground, carrying heavy items) to helping run the races and games with younger children. Way to go middle schoolers!
