PE with Coach Cat
[email protected]
Hello, I am the new PE Teacher, Coach Cat! I am so happy to be a part of the GVA team this year! We are going to have an amazing year.
For the first couple of weeks, we will review my procedures in and outside the classroom. Our first unit will be a soccer unit.
I want to make sure all students can participate, and I need them in the correct shoes for that to happen.
- For example, any closed-toe tennis/athletic shoes will do.
- Crocs will not be acceptable for PE class.
- If the students would like to bring an extra pair of shoes to change into for class, then that is fine with me.
- If students do not have the right shoes on for PE, then they will not be able to participate in the lesson for the day. This is for the students' safety.
3 Classroom Rules
be RESPECTFUL, be RESPONSIBLE, be READY TO LEARN
Bathroom Procedures
- One student is allowed in the bathroom at a time.
- Students will take the bathroom pass when they go to the bathroom.
- This shows me if there is a student in the bathroom.
- When the pass is not in class, I know not to send another student to the bathroom until the pass is back in the classroom.

SEL with Ms. Renee
[email protected]
I am so happy to be back in school! This year SEL looks very different. I will be “pushing in” to classrooms this year instead of having students come to my classroom. GVA needed to hire an additional teacher, so we needed the classroom. So far, the students are doing great learning the new routine!
Kindergarten-2nd Grade
- We will begin SEL this year with an introduction to our Munchy & Jumpy stories.
- The students really enjoy these sweet stories about twin bunnies who have a special power to do a “Double Day” in order to correct their mistakes.
3rd-5th Grade
Upper Elementary students will learn about the two pledges that we make each morning; The Pledge of Allegiance and the Student Pledge.
- Discussion centers on making and keeping promises, the meaning of honor in words and actions, and respecting others who are different.
Students are excited to learn about the Self-Care Fair, coming to GVA on September 16th, 2023, from 1:00-4:00 PM.
- The event allows students to sample healthy, screen-free activities such as tai-chi, yo-yo, art, and more.
- We will have therapy animals, food trucks, crafts, and speakers on mental health topics.
- Those who complete their Passport and stay for the group meditation at the end of the event have a chance to win a large gift basket full of self-care items.
I look forward to seeing you there!
