As a reminder, students will have an Early Release Day on Tuesday, October 15th and will be dismissed at noon. They will have no school on October 16th so that teachers can conduct conferences. Village Square will be available on October 15th from 12-6pm and October 16th from 7am-6pm for students but you must reserve a spot in advance as we have a maximum capacity.
As a reminder, conferences will be held on October 15th from 3pm-8pm and October 16th from 10am-8pm. Conferences are student led so we ask that students attend conferences with their parents. If you have not yet signed up for a slot with your child’s teachers, you can access all teachers’ sign up links here.
PTO has graciously offered to provide dinner for staff on October 15th but they are still looking for additional donations. Please consider signing up to bring something for the staff to enjoy. A big thank you to all the families that donated food for the World Teacher’s Day “Snack Attack” hosted by PTO on October 3rd. Our staff were well fed and felt all the love from our amazing families. Thank you for continuing to support all the staff here at GVA!

Taste of Hispanic Culture Event
Our Diversity and Inclusivity Committee is hosting their annual Taste of Hispanic Culture event on Saturday, October 12th from 1-4pm. This is a really fun event that highlights all of the incredible Hispanic communities that are part of our school. There will be games, performances, crafts, and, of course, food. If you would like to volunteer to help set up for this event, bring in a favorite dish, or help out during the event please consider signing up here. This is always an amazing event that showcases all GVA has to offer. We hope to see many families there!

¡Las vacaciones de otoño están a la vuelta de la esquina! Como recordatorio, los estudiantes tendrán un día de salida temprana el martes 15 de octubre y saldrán al mediodía. No tendrán clases el 16 de octubre para que los maestros puedan llevar a cabo las conferencias. . El Sabor de la Cultura Hispana
Nuestro Comité de Diversidad e Inclusión está organizando su evento anual Sabor de la Cultura Hispana el sábado 12 de octubre de 1:00 p.m. a 4:00 p.m. Este es un evento realmente divertido que destaca las increíbles comunidades hispanas que forman parte de nuestra escuela. Habrá juegos, actuaciones, manualidades y, por supuesto, comida. Si desea ofrecerse como voluntario para ayudar a organizar este evento, traer un plato favorito o ayudar durante el evento, considere registrarse aquí . Este es siempre un evento increíble que muestra todo lo que GVA tiene para ofrecer. ¡Esperamos ver a muchas familias allí!

Teacher of the Month-Dominica Smith
Ms. Dominica first joined GVA as a parent, and has been part of the GVA community for years. However, she currently serves as a Special Education Para helping meet the needs of our special education students. She is truly a positive light in her students' lives and brings such a calming presence to each situation. Staff describe her as committed, patient, and understanding. We appreciate all that you bring to our school! Thank you for being PUMA PROUD for all these years!

La Sra. Dominica se unió por primera vez a GVA como madre, y ha sido parte de la comunidad GVA durante años. Sin embargo, actualmente se desempeña como asistente de educación especial ayudando a satisfacer las necesidades de nuestros estudiantes de educación especial. Ella es realmente una luz positiva en la vida de sus estudiantes y trae una presencia calmante a cada situación. El personal la describe como comprometida, paciente y comprensiva. ¡Apreciamos todo lo que aporta a nuestra escuela! ¡Gracias por ser un ORGULLO PUMA durante todos estos años!
Staff Member of the Month-Alanis Resto Reyes
Ms. Alanis joined the GVA team last year as an Instructional Assistant and is now working to support the middle school team. She is a ray of sunshine and has already made such an impact with our older students. One student even says, "She helps me when I’m stuck and with finishing my work. She is super nice. She is very demure and very cutesy!” They even know she will know all the newest slang when complimenting her. :) We’re lucky to have her fresh energy and kind attitude here at GVA North!

La Sra. Alanis se unió al equipo de GVA el año pasado como asistente de instrucción y ahora está trabajando para apoyar al equipo de la escuela secundaria. Es un rayo de sol y ya ha tenido un gran impacto con nuestros estudiantes de secundaria. Un estudiante incluso dice: "Ella me ayuda cuando estoy estancado o cuando necesito terminar mi trabajo. Es súper amable. Es muy recatada y muy tierna". Incluso saben que ella conocerá toda la jerga coloquial más reciente cuando la elogian. :) ¡Tenemos suerte de tener su energía fresca y su actitud amable aquí en GVA North!
