Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break! I hope everyone enjoyed some family time this past week and is ready to dive into a busy December here at GVA North.
i-Ready Testing Begins this Week
Students will begin i-Ready testing for the middle of the year starting this week. Our middle school students will begin testing on Tuesday and our elementary students will start on Thursday. Please help your students prepare by making sure they bring their devices (grades 6th-8th), get a good night's rest, and a big breakfast.
As an added incentive, our students will be trying to earn a Spirit Week for their efforts during iReady testing. The students will need to earn a total of 3,000 tickets to receive their Spirit Week. Students can earn a ticket for working hard during the testing time or by beating their mid-year goal. Please encourage your child over the next two weeks to earn their tickets! I am feeling confident that our PUMAS will surpass the goal of 3,000 tickets but we won’t announce the days for Spirit Week until the students have officially won.
Snuggle In and Read is Coming!
Additionally, we are beginning to start planning one of our favorite GVA traditions: Snuggle In and Read Day. Snuggle In and Read will be held on December 19th for elementary students.
Students are invited to wear their pajamas, bring a stuffed animal, and cozy up for a fun day of reading. Students will come to the cafeteria to drink hot chocolate and listen to a story. To help us prepare for this event, we are asking families to consider donating items or volunteering their time (limited slots available). Please consider signing up to help out via the links below:

¡Bienvenidos de regreso de las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias! Espero que todos hayan disfrutado de un tiempo en familia la semana pasada y estén listos para sumergirse en un diciembre ajetreado aquí en GVA North.
Las pruebas i-Ready comienzan esta semana
Los estudiantes comenzarán las pruebas i-Ready de mitad de año a partir de esta semana. Nuestros estudiantes de secundaria comenzarán las pruebas el martes y nuestros estudiantes de primaria comenzarán el jueves. Ayude a sus estudiantes a prepararse asegurándose de que traigan sus dispositivos (grados 6to a 8vo), de que descansen bien por la noche y de que tomen un gran desayuno.
Como incentivo adicional, nuestros estudiantes intentarán ganar una semana de “Spirit Week" por sus esfuerzos durante las pruebas iReady. ¡Se acerca el Día de Acurrúcate y Lee (Snuggle In and Read)!
Además, estamos comenzando a planificar una de nuestras tradiciones favoritas de GVA, el Día de Acurrúcate y Lee (Snuggle In and Read). El Día de Acurrúcate y Lee (Snuggle In and Read) se llevará a cabo el 19 de diciembre para los estudiantes de primaria.
Se invita a los estudiantes a usar sus pijamas, traer un animal de peluche y acurrucarse para un día divertido de lectura. Los estudiantes vendrán a la cafetería para beber chocolate caliente y escuchar una historia. Para ayudarnos a prepararnos para este evento, estamos pidiendo a las familias que consideren donar artículos o ofrecer su tiempo como voluntarios (hay cupos limitados disponibles).
