Junior GVA Seal of Biliteracy Award for 5th Grade Students
The GVA Jr. Seal of Biliteracy is designed to set a standard for high-level biliteracy attainment for students.
- Rewards engagement in pursuit of bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding
- Recognizes students' hard work and a high level of language proficiency in two or more languages
- Encourages perseverance and dedication to bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding.
The GVA Jr. Seal of Biliteracy Pathway Award is given to students on the path to biliteracy who complete the following requirements:
Immersion Language Projects
- A written essay, in English, on the importance of bilingualism.
- An oral presentation, in their immersion language, on a topic of the student’s choice
Community Service & Culture Events
- Ten hours of documented community service or participating in cultural events.
The GVA Jr. Seal of Biliteracy Award is given to students who attain a high level of biliteracy and complete the following requirements:
- The student meets all the requirements for earning the GVA Jr. Seal of Biliteracy Pathway Award plus the assessment results.
Assessment Results
- English: iReady score of “Early on grade level” or “Mid or above Grade Level.”
- Immersion Language: STAMP 4Se- 4(Intermediate Low) score or higher
